Tahitian Pearl Lifetime Warranty

Tahiti Pearl Market is proud to offer a lifetime warranty for each Tahitian pearl sold in our stores. Please be advised that it only concerns the Tahitian pearl and not the setting.

  • If your Tahitian pearl remains in its entire shape and gets discolored overtime (white stain on a portion of the pearl), we will replace your pearl.
  • If your Tahitian pearl remains in its entire shape and changes in color, we will replace your pearl.
  • If your Tahitian pearl cracks for no obvious reason, we will replace your pearl.

Please note that each case will go through a team of experts for evaluation before we validate the replacement of your Tahitian pearl.

Certificate of authenticity

Certificate of authenticity, a family-run house, and the transmission of exceptional pearl craftsmanship.

Every piece ships with its certificate of authenticity, filled in with your order and stamped by the house.

Pearl care

Recommended

The best advice we can give you is to wear your pearls as often as possible -- the body's natural oils keep pearls lustrous.

It is strongly recommended not to get your pearls wet by either showering or swimming (ocean, swimming pool or Jacuzzi hot tubs).

Prevention

Beware of perfumes, makeup, hairspray, and household cleaners such as dish washing or hand soaps as their chemical properties can damage your pearl. Put on your perfume or hairspray first, let it set for a few minutes, then put on your pearls.

After use

After wearing pearls, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove any traces of cosmetic products or body sweat.

Glow

To shine pearls, you can put a few drops of olive oil, coconut oil or monoi oil on the pearls, and then wipe them with a soft cloth to remove the excess oil.

Storage

Pearls should be stored separately from other jewelry. If possible, store them wrapped in a soft cloth or in a soft-lined container, pouch, or jewelry box, but not in an airtight container because the pearls need to "breathe".

Questions

How can I tell if my Tahitian pearl is real?

A genuine Tahitian cultured pearl is a living organic gem, recognizable by several natural characteristics:

  • On first contact with the skin, a real pearl feels naturally cool, unlike plastic or glass imitations, which immediately take on the room temperature.
  • Slid gently along the edge of a tooth, or looked at under a magnifying glass, a real pearl reveals tiny natural irregularities, whereas an imitation is perfectly smooth.
  • The luster of a real Tahitian pearl responds subtly to natural light, with a unique depth that no artificial coating can match.
  • Every TAHITI PEARL MARKET piece comes with its Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing its Polynesian origin and its authenticity.
Are your pearls dyed, or is the colour natural?

These oysters produce pearls that are often falsely call “black pearls” but that are in fact officially called “Naturally Coloured Cultured Tahitian Pearls” by professional industry organisations like the GIA and CIBJO.

Can I shower, swim or wash my hands with my pearls on?

It is strongly recommended not to get your pearls wet by either showering or swimming (ocean, swimming pool or Jacuzzi hot tubs). We recommend that you remove your pearl ring when washing your hands or doing the dishes as it can affect your pearl and the glue that binds your pearl to the ring.

Know what you buy

Acquiring a Tahitian pearl is a personal process, as each pearl is unique. Consider shape, surface quality, color, overtones, and size.

The size of Tahitian cultured pearls are usually between 8 mm and 16 mm, the pearls that are larger than 15mm are extremely rare, but the truly exceptional ones can reach 20 mm.
